Why people don't bring forward complaints
- Fear of being blamed or ridiculed
- Fear of getting a bad reputation
- Fear of being labelled a "Troublemaker"
- Feeling isolated
- Feeling embarrassed and humiliated by the behaviour
- Feeling of losing job- If he/she is supervisor or manager
- Organisations needs to make policy and complaint resolution procedure for workplace bullying.
- The policy against bullying should be advertised on notice board.
- The alleged bully should be protected by confidentiality provisions in law.
- By providing counselling services
- By running programmes by Health and Safety departments of organisation
- By making safety policies and procedures and make them available electronically and paper based to employees.
- Training employees demonstrate your commitment to safety
- Lead by example by following all safety policies and encouraging employees to do the same. if management commits to safety, employees will follow suit.
- reward employees who report any incident or concerns.
- By treating each and every employee equally
- During the process of building and maintaining safety culture,involve the employees as well
- By creating a special committee or department for handling all the concerns or issues of employees confidentially.
- By keeping a suggestion box, where anyone can put their suggestion without mentioning their identity.
